Some experts speculated that the discovery of the virus may have dealt a psychological blow to its victims, on top of whatever damage Flame may have already inflicted to their computers.
"If a government initiated the attack it might not care that the attack was discovered," said Klimburg of the Austrian Institute for International Affairs. "The psychological effect of the penetration could be nearly as profitable as the intelligence gathered."

First Thoughts: Obama unloads on Romney ;.. *** Going to extremes: Yesterday’s back-and-forth made us wonder if this is May or October. How do we know the Obama-Romney race is close? Because both men are going to the extremes to disqualify each other. Obama’s argument is that Romney doesn’t have the values to be president (he’ll look out only for the 1%, not the 99%); Romney’s is that Obama doesn’t have the skills (he’s never run a business and his policies have failed). In addition, we’ve now seen Republicans -- Marco Rubio was the latest -- to describe Obama as the most divisive president in modern times. (Yet channeling National Journal’s Jill Lawrence, Obama is only the most polarizing president since Bush, who was the most polarizing president since Clinton, who was the most polarizing since Reagan, etc…. And, boy, that Lincoln was so polarizing that his election triggered the Civil War.)

“At some point such actions, which undermine state sovereignty, may well end in a full-blown regional war and even - I’m not trying to spook anyone - the use of nuclear weapons,” he told a legal forum in St. Petersburg.
According to Kremlin officials, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev is scheduled to hold talks with U.S. President Barack Obama at the Group of Eight summit, which starts on May 18, at Camp David in Maryland.

Vietnam bloggers battle tightening censorship - Yahoo! News Singapore ;.. Their shaky images spread like wildfire on Facebook, in a sign of growing online defiance in Vietnam, in the face of efforts by authorities to rein in the country's Internet community.
"They follow me, they keep track of what I am writing, they keep track of all dissident bloggers. Anything they can do to harass us, they do," said blogger Nguyen Thi Dung, one of several bloggers who publicised the April 24 Hung Yen unrest on a variety of websites.

Judge urges more deliberations in Android case - Yahoo! News Singapore ;.. OPEN Source in SOFTWARE Language '; ...Oracle sued Google in August 2010, saying Android infringes on its intellectual property rights to the Java programming language. Google says it does not violate Oracle's patents and that Oracle cannot copyright certain parts of Java, an "open-source," or publicly available, software language.
Alsup had been prepared to allow the jury to deliver a partial verdict on Friday. But he changed his mind after one juror said others on the panel thought further deliberations might be useful.
"We should take advantage of that hope," Alsup said.
The trial has been divided into three phases: copyright liability, patent claims, and damages. It began in April and was expected to last at least eight weeks.
If the jury cannot agree on one question, Alsup has indicated he would allow them to deliver a partial verdict and move on to hear evidence in the patent phase of the case. Another jury may then have to resolve the unanswered copyright question on a retrial.
